Ajax riders who travel to Scarborough Centre Station will need to check their boarding spot next week, as construction at the terminal will shut down two bus bays for six days.

Bus bays one and two at Scarborough Centre Station will be temporarily closed from Monday, October 26 at 7:30 a.m. until Saturday, October 31 at 4 p.m., according to Durham Region Transit.

During the closure, Durham Region Transit routes 920 and 921 — the routes that serve the station — will use bus bay three instead.

What riders need to know

The change affects anyone in Ajax and across Durham Region who connects through Scarborough Centre Station, a major transfer point between DRT buses and GO Transit service into Toronto.

Passengers who normally wait at bays one or two should move to bay three to catch their bus. Riders are advised to allow extra time during the first days of the closure in case boarding takes longer than usual at the temporary location.

No detours or route changes were announced — only the platform location is moving. Service on routes 920 and 921 is expected to continue on its regular schedule throughout the week.

The closure is tied to construction work underway at the station, according to Durham Region Transit. The transit agency did not say what the construction involves or whether further disruptions are expected after October 31.

Riders with questions can call Durham Region Transit at 1-866-247-0055 or submit a comment through the agency's online customer comment form.

Normal platform operations are expected to resume once the work wraps up on the afternoon of Saturday, October 31.
