Durham Region Transit riders face two weeks of detours in Pickering after the transit agency announced Glenanna Road will close for construction between The Esplanade South and Pickering Parkway.
The closure runs from Tuesday, Oct. 13 to Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, and affects routes 112, 118, 121, 211, 900B, 916, 917 and 920B, according to Durham Region Transit.
Pulse 900B, Pulse 916 and 920B westbound trips will detour via Valley Farm Road and Pickering Parkway. Two stops will be skipped: stop 1607 on Kingston Road westbound at Valley Farm, and stop 1915 on Glenanna Road southbound at The Esplanade on the south side.
Routes 112, 121, 118, 211 and 917 will detour via Kingston Road, Valley Farm Road and Pickering Parkway. Stop 1915 — Glenanna southbound at The Esplanade, south side — will also not be served on those routes.
DRT said riders who normally use the closed stop can catch service at Valley Farm Road southbound at Kingston, roughly 100 metres south of Kingston Road. All other stops along the detour routes will continue to be served.
The detour affects a busy Pickering corridor near Pickering Town Centre and the Pickering Parkway terminal, a key connection point for Ajax riders travelling west on DRT's Pulse network.
Riders with questions can call DRT at 1-866-247-0055 or submit a customer comment form through the Durham Region Transit website.
Transit users are advised to allow extra travel time while the detours are in place, as buses may run behind schedule on the alternate routing.
