A Lincoln Avenue Public School student has won Ajax’s Fire Chief for the Day contest after creating a poster focused on fire safety at home.
Lokesh was selected from 573 submissions, according to a Town of Ajax announcement. Ajax Fire and Emergency Services said his entry showed a strong understanding of important fire safety measures.
His poster highlighted the importance of having a fire escape plan and practising it with family members. It also included keeping an emergency kit readily available and regularly testing smoke alarms.
The announcement said Lokesh was scheduled to be picked up at his school in an Ajax Fire Services vehicle on Wednesday, October 7, and spend the afternoon serving as the Town’s Fire Chief.
Kevin Vaughan, the Town’s chief fire prevention officer, congratulated Lokesh in the announcement and praised his efforts to encourage fire safety awareness.
“Congratulations, Lokesh! Thank you for showing leadership and responsibility in promoting fire safety and awareness. By encouraging safe habits at home, you are helping build a safer and more prepared community.”
