Most Regional Municipality of Durham facilities and programs will be closed on Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 12, while Durham Region Transit scales back to its weekend schedule for the holiday.

The closures affect everything from Provincial Offences Courts to child care centres, according to the Region of Durham said in a notice. All Regional facilities will be shut, including Regional Headquarters in Whitby, Provincial Offences Courts and offices, Ontario Works offices, the Child Care and Early Years Division offices and all Regional front counters.

The Region's eight directly operated Early Learning and Child Care centres will be closed for the day, as will all Family Services Durham locations.

Ajax offices among those shutting down

Ontario Works offices in Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge will be closed Monday.

Adult Day Programs at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa and Lakeview Manor in Beaverton will also be closed. The Port Perry site at 451 Paxton Street is always closed on Mondays.
