The Town of Ajax has switched to a new online application system for municipal jobs, and anyone hoping to work for the town will need to set up an account before applying.

First-time applicants must create a Candidate Home account, according to the town's careers page. The system lets candidates autofill an application using their resume, reuse details from a previous application, or enter their information manually.

How the new system works

The portal also offers job alerts, which notify candidates when a new opening matches their interests. Job seekers can sign up so they hear about postings as soon as they go up, rather than checking the site manually.

The town says most positions stay posted for about 14 days. Some postings remain open for three to four weeks to attract a broader pool of applicants.

Only electronic applications are accepted — paper submissions are not part of the process.

Seasonal jobs coming up on the calendar

For residents planning ahead, the town posts seasonal positions between February and April. Summer student operations roles are posted from November to January, meaning those opportunities will appear on the portal in the coming weeks.

Summer camp and playground positions are posted in November, January and March, according to the town.

What successful applicants need

Anyone offered a job with the town must provide a criminal record check dated within six months of the employment offer. Applicants should keep that timing in mind if they are applying for multiple roles or expect a delay between applying and being hired.

Residents who applied under the town's previous process will still need to register for the new system before submitting a new application.

The changes come as municipalities across Durham Region routinely hire seasonal, student and full-time staff for parks, recreation, camps, operations and administrative roles. Job seekers in Ajax can watch the careers page for openings or set up alerts to be notified about matches.
