A 66-year-old Ajax man is facing two counts of sexual assault after Durham Regional Police investigated separate daytime incidents in the town this summer.

Police say the first incident happened on July 9, 2026 at about 8:30 a.m. in the area of Harwood Avenue North and Rossland Road. According to investigators, a man approached a woman, tried to start a conversation and shake her hand, then sexually assaulted her before fleeing.

The second incident took place on September 15, 2026 at about 3:15 p.m., when a man approached a woman on the Miller Creek Trail south of Rossland Road near Bennet Avenue. Police say he attempted to make conversation, then sexually assaulted her and left the area on foot.

Hakim Hussainzada, 66, of Ajax, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, Durham Regional Police said.

Police say they are concerned there may be additional victims. Investigators are asking anyone who has had a similar interaction to come forward, whether or not they have already reported it to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact D/Cst. Jiggins of the Special Victims Unit at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5312. Tips can also be provided anonymously to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Both incidents occurred in busy, well-travelled parts of Ajax during daylight hours — one along a major intersection in the town's north end and the other on a community trail popular with walkers and cyclists.
