A 23-year-old Cambridge man is facing more than a dozen charges after Durham police say he bought gold jewelry from sellers across Ontario using counterfeit Canadian currency.

Durham Regional Police said the accused used Facebook Marketplace between November 2025 and February 2026 to arrange purchases of gold jewelry from victims throughout the province. According to police, he paid for the items with counterfeit bills before taking possession of the property.

Investigators calculated that the sellers lost a combined total of more than $27,000.

Accused turned himself in Monday

On October 27, 2026, the accused turned himself in to police and was arrested, according to investigators.

Terran Miller, 23, of Cambridge, is charged with three counts of fraud over $5,000, four counts of uttering counterfeit money, one count of fraud under $5,000, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Police said he was released on an undertaking.

Police also said the accused is facing similar charges with eight other police services across Ontario.

Police believe more victims are out there

The investigation found the accused used several Facebook account names, including "Slimeoo Miller," "Ty Johnson," "Ranny RF" and "Terran Miller Jr.," according to police.

Investigators said they released a photo of Miller because they believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.

Anyone who bought or sold jewelry through Facebook Marketplace and believes they may have been victimized is encouraged to contact their local police service.

People with information about the investigation are asked to contact D/Cst. Kane of the Financial Crimes Unit at 905-579-1520 ext. 5371.

Police noted the allegations have not yet been proven in court.
