The Durham Catholic District School Board has released its Student Achievement Plan for the 2026-2027 school year, a document the board says will guide its goals and key strategies across its schools, including those serving families in Ajax.

According to a Durham Catholic District School Board news release, the plan was developed in accordance with the Better Schools and Student Outcomes Act, 2023, provincial legislation that requires school boards to align their work with mandatory priorities set by the Ministry of Education.

"We are pleased to present the DCDSB's 2026-2027 Student Achievement Plan," the board said in its announcement.

The board said the plan reflects the alignment of those mandatory ministry priorities with the board's own strategic priorities, and outlines the goals and key strategies that will guide its work throughout the school year.

What the plan covers

The board highlighted four areas of focus in the plan: faith and well-being, Indigenous education, human rights and equity, and student learning.

Under the Better Schools and Student Outcomes Act, 2023, boards across Ontario are required to publish plans that spell out how they intend to improve student outcomes and report on their progress. The DCDSB's document sets out how the board intends to support students in those priority areas over the 2026-2027 school year.

The board is inviting parents, guardians and community members to read the full plan, which is available on the board's website under its board plans and reports section.
